Barrel Organ, English Touring Theatre and Warwick Arts Centre are making an adaptation of the classic novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, and we are working with young people from across the UK to make it happen.

The book is about a 16 year old girl called Tess from a working-class family, who has little control over what happens to her. At a time when a global situation has stripped young people of opportunity & freedom, we want to give a group of 21st century young people the opportunity to reinvent a story written by a nineteenth century man. To create an empowered Tess, transforming her tragedy into something new. Together, we will go on a journey to find out who Tess could be outside the story Hardy gives her.
