LIVE and kicking

7 Sept 2023

Happy September y'all!

Where did summer go? Did it even happen? It feels like we're being tricked with this new bout of heat, because up until this week the Barrel Organ team, spread all over the country, saw about three and a half days of sun collectively. But now we're here, sweltering at our desks, looking longingly out of the window.

We're now only a few days away from LIVE: Scarborough hosted by the very brilliant Stephen Joseph Theatre on Monday 11th September. We're very excited to share early-stage work by Lel Meleyal, JJ Cruickshank, Michelle Clark, lowercase theatre, Gabe Mason & Maddy Whitby, and Raina Greifer. Tickets are Pay What You Decide and available here. And although most of you reading this won't be local to Scarborough, you can still watch digitally - reserve your spot by following this link.

This event is hot on the heels of our wildly successful Town Squared Showcase at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre. 150 people joined us to celebrate the rich variety of work made by first-time writers from all over the town, performed by professional actors. Although this event marked the end of Town Squared Leighton-Linslade, we will still be keeping in touch with all the brilliant people and artists we've worked with and supporting new local ventures where we can. Plans for the next Town Squared project are currently being cooked up - we could be coming to a town near you!

And finally, a reminder to young people in Yorkshire that our Arthur project is now in full swing. We'll hopefully have more info on this next month, but if you're based in or near Bradford, Hull, Kirklees, Leeds, Rotherham, Sheffield, or York, then get in touch about getting involved and we'll let you know more details when we have them.

See you on Monday for LIVE: Scarborough!
